The Mountaineer's compact 1.5 pound head and 15.5" handle bring great versatility to the table with its bearded blade and hammer head poll. The bearded blade allows choking up behind the edge, providing greater control for finer tasks like making fire starter or even food prep. The beard also provides for a wider blade on a lighter head. A hardened hammerhead makes this axe balanced and more suitable for hammering nails, posts, pegs, and stakes than other axes in its same weight class, like our Mini Camper. The Mountaineer bridges the gap between our Bearded Belt Carry Hatchet and Trapper's Hatchet. The Mountaineer has a straight handle for greater control when hammering. Every Mountaineer comes standard with a leather sheath and built-in fire starter made by Überleben, allowing you to start a fire everywhere your axe goes.
